Ice T’s Hearty Laugh Is So Contagious in BTS Moment on the Law & Order Crossover Set
The Law & Order franchise is in no shortage of hardened detectives, but many will agree that Law & Order: Special Victims Unit icon Ice T is one of the most badass investigators ever to grace primetime. And Law & Order newcomer David Ajala is soaking up quality time with the “Original Gangster.”
How to Watch
Law & Order returns Thursday, January 8 at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock.
As Ajala’s Detective Theo Walker gets settled at the 27th Precinct, viewers are gearing up for a high-throttle two-hour crossover event with SVU, leading Ajala to cross paths with Ice T’s Sgt. Fin Tutuola during the series’ January 2026 midseason premiere. While filming for the action-packed crossover, Ajala commemorated the exciting moment by grabbing a quick video with his Law & Order co-star, a behind-the-scenes side quest that Ice T seemed more than happy to oblige.
“See us right here? Let me spin us around, this lighting good, right here?” Ajala said playfully while trying to get a good angle with the rapper and SVU icon. After capturing the perfect lighting for a quick video, Ajala teasingly said, “Now you see us? We gangster!”
Ajala shared the video to his Instagram on December 4, captioning the clip, “Iron sharpens Iron. #lawandorder.”
The “Original Gangster” singer had a big, hearty laugh at that, chuckling while ducking out of the frame as Ajala repeated, “We gangster!” Ajala is clearly having a blast while buddying up with the SVU legend, and viewers can’t wait to see the 2-7’s team-up with Fin’s elite squad.
David Ajala talks laughing with Ice T on Law & Order set: “He’s funny”

Upon Ajala’s exciting arrival to the franchise, NBC Insider connected with the precinct newbie to chat about the joys of hopping aboard the mothership series. Aside from diving into an exciting new character, Ajala was also thrilled to get the chance to connect with Ice T while behind the scenes.
“He’s great, man,” Ajala told NBC Insider. “Very, very kind guy. Within the first hour or so of working with him, he pulled me aside and was just saying, ‘Yo, man, how you feeling? How’s the show going on? You enjoying the character? How’s the collaborative process with the producers?'”
With more than two decades of closed cases under his holster, Ice T is no stranger to the bells and whistles of the NBC nail-biter, and Ajala appreciated the SVU star’s thoughtfulness as he got settled in the squad room. “He really just took time to help me out, which is super kind,” Ajala said.
And, of course, it wouldn’t be a brush-in with Ice T without a few laughs along the way, as we see in their chucklesome behind the scenes clip.
“He’s funny too. Yeah, he’s funny,” Ajala told NBC Insider. “He’s just like one of those cats that’s just like, been there, done that. He’s seen everything. So nothing really phases him. Really nice guy.”
