Coronation Street’s Tina O’Brien ‘can’t believe it’ as she’s seen with co-stars before ‘last day’ update
The ITV soap’s Sarah Platt actress has been confirmed in the cast list for Emmerdale crossover, Corriedale
Tina O’Brien has said she ‘can’t believe it’ as she joined her Coronation Street co-stars as they attended the premiere of the upcoming crossover episode with Emmerdale.
The actress, who is famed for playing Sarah Platt in the ITV soap, has been confirmed in the 40-strong cast list for the hour-long episode, dubbed Corriedale, that is set to kick off the network’s new ‘soap power hour’ which will see Emmerdale and Corrie air in half hour instalments every week night.
To mark the change, producers, scriptwriters and production teams have conceived an ingenious way of linking the two universes, with characters then returning to the soaps they are renowned for inhabiting in Manchester and Yorkshire, but with the horror that unfolds linking them forever.
It was previously revealed that a catastrophic multi-vehicle pile-up would be at the centre of the drama, leaving the lives of those from the cobbles and the Dales at risk. In the chaotic aftermath, characters from both shows calling for help in the darkness as the emergency services arrive at the scene on a country road near the village of Hotten.
While it hasn’t been revealed how Sarah will be involved in what’s ahead, Tina has confirmed she has a small part and was delighted to see the historic episode for herself for the first time at the premiere of Corriedale, at The National Science and Media Museum in Bradford, the UK City of Culture 2025, on Tuesday (December 16).

Now taking to Instagram, Tina has taken to Instagram with a string of snaps from the red carpet – in which she can be seen with co-stars Julia Goulding, Vinta Morgan and Jacob Roberts as they’re also set to feature in the special episode, as well as a picture from filming.
Alongside the post, the soap star wrote: “Had the best day yesterday with the cast of @coronationstreet and @emmerdale. Both coming together for this amazing crossover. Such a fantastic piece of TV. I still can’t believe I made it into the episode (even though I’m literally on screen for a second) which means I can sit back and enjoy watching everyone else smash it.”
She added: “Huge love to the wonderful @director_duncan and the brilliant press and post production teams behind the scenes. Can’t wait for you all to see it.”
And fans were excited about the update. @cleanwithmrsb_ said: “This is going to go down in tv history I cannot wait.” @danielthorpe14151 commented: “Well done all cant wait to see it.” @dgu2489 wrote: “Can’t wait to see Corriedale.” @mattjj1989 added: “Looking beautiful as always. Can’t wait for Corriedale!”
Meanwhile, Tina has confirmed that she is spending her ‘last day’ on the cobbles for 2025 as she heads on her Christmas break before returning in the New Year, with more Weatherfield drama set to unfold in 2026 beyond Corriedale.
Alongside a picture from inside her car, in which she could be seen outside the Trafford-based set listening to Alanis Morissette, Tina wrote on her Instagram Story: “Last day filming before Christmas,” before adding the time stamp of 7.17am.
