Coronation Street will not be on as usual this evening, amid a bit of an ITV schedule shake-up. The broadcaster has moved its popular soap around this week.

Viewers who sit down at 8pm expecting their usual Wednesday night trip to Weatherfield will be out of luck. Instead they will find live coverage of sport, which is a very different vibe.

The soap is building up for the busy festive period, but fans now face a wait for the next episode. Here’s all you need to know:

Once again, ITV has moved around its soap schedule due to live sport. The broadcaster has coverage of the Carabao Cup quarter-finals tonight (December 17).

Defending champions Newcastle United are in action against Fulham and ITV’s broadcast will start at 7.30pm. It runs through until 10.40pm and clashes with Corrie’s usual start time of 8pm.

When is Coronation Street on TV next?

The soap was moved to last night (December 16) instead. However, there is now a bit of a wait before the next episode.

Coronation Street will return with an hour-long episode on Friday (December 19). It will start at 8pm and finish at around 9pm, being followed by the movie Red One.

The preview, via Radio Times, reads: “Will celebrates his 16th birthday in a hotel room with Megan, Sally clashes with Joanie over a schedule conflict, and Carl panics that Abi might see an incriminating message from James.”
